Services + Process
Intimacy Coordination
Prep Work
With a minimum of at least 1 work week before rehearsal, I complete a thorough script breakdown to prepare for the logistics between departments and creative. I then meet with the director to understand the over all vision for each scene involving intimacy, followed by separate meetings with each actor/performer to understand their comfort, questions, and boundaries.
Logistics + Liaising
I connect the dots, liaise, and coordinate logistics between departments from directors, producers, creative, actors, wardrobe, make-up, set dressing and more.
At least, ONE WEEK PRIOR to shoot dates, I also provide additional information from meeting with the actors for legal riders for producers/ADs to provide legal teams.
Extra Support
I support the actors/performers with establishing consent and boundaries for themselves and in relationship with other actors in scenes of intimacy. We co-create a personalized system to support them in cases when the content of their work may activate a trigger or past trauma to arise in rehearsal or a shoot day, so that we can pause, they can take care of themselves and resume to do their best work when ready.
(*Note: I do NOT work as a therapist. If engaged separately by the production, I can offer offer holistic nervous system support practices / mental-health related counselling services.)
Attuned, Accurate, Authentic
During the closed rehearsal and closed set for scenes with intimacy, I put into action balancing the actors’ being supported in their consent + boundaries, and the directors in their vision (if requested, this includes finding creative solutions with choreography).
I further support the process by attuning to the actors needs + nervous systems, encouraging accurate cultural depictions of sexuality / gender / disability, and co-creating safe spaces for creativity to flourish so scenes of intimacy can be raw, vulnerable, and authentic.
Media + Script Consultancy
It all begins with an idea. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story can make all the difference.
This process varies project to project depending on the medium and when you engage me in the creative journey.
1
Review
Whether you are developing a new film or episodic pilot, music video, play, physical theatre or dance piece, graphic design or photography, I review the material and vision of the project. the current articulations, symbolic meaning, and representations of race, gender, sexuality, ability/disability, class, caste, shadism, and body size, as well as intimacy, relationship dynamics, non-mainstream relationships/polyamoury, BDSM + kink, LGBTQQAI+ culture and more.
2
Analyze
I analyze the current articulations, symbolic meanings, and impacts of race, gender, sexuality, ability/disability, class, caste, shadism, and body size. I examine how these representations + symbols influence the power dynamics and overall narrative of your piece, how these may be undermining or uplifting your vision and intent, along with the potential societal and social responses of how these dynamics are portrayed.
3
Creative Questioning
Through consulting sessions, I offer a container to develop your piece with creative questions for you to reflect where and how you can hone in or shift narratives through image, symbolism, or script. I also offer direct reflections of what is hindering or flourishing the narrative or your piece. If agreed upon, I can collaborate as a creative team member generating alternative ideas to enhance and uplift your vision.
