Bio (A lil Intro)
As a Certified Intimacy Coordinator and Media Consultant, nisha works internationally and is primarily based between Los Angeles and Toronto.
nisha integrates 20 years of experience as an actor, director, physical theatre creator/choreographer/movement-coach, published playwright, and over decade as a trauma-informed holistic wellness practitioner specializing in mental health, nervous system support, and somatic practices and is former co-director/founder of Soma Integrative Wellness and now runs a private practice as Yum Holistic Wellness.
As queer gender-fluid South Asian-North American nisha has designed and delivered 100s of workshops and trainings spanning embodied equity for race / culture/ gender / sexuality / ability-”disability”/ body size/ sexual violence survivors to physical theatre creation, choreography, acting/directing, alongside introductions to polyamory and bdsm, and holistic somatic, yogic and wellness practices and Ayurvedic Medicine.

For over 20 years, nisha has created, performed, and taught across Canada, USA, Netherlands, and India collaborating with the largest national theatre institutions and universities, to small grassroots organizations and indie venues.
Also a Registered Naturotherpy Practitioner, nisha has supported hundreds with a trauma-informed Mental Health Support/Nervous System Care Resiliency, Ayurvedic Medicine + Bodywork, Therapeutic Yoga, Energy Healing + Reiki, Sound Healing, and Ancestral healing.
Formerly an actor with Canada’s National Arts Centre’s Resident Acting Company, nisha is currently a voice actor on commercials across the country, Audiobooks like Vivek Shraya’s The Subtweet, and the occasional animation and videogames like Ubisoft’s Far Cry 4.
nisha is also published playwright with 30 People Watching co-written with Amelia Sarggison (ReView: an anthology of plays committed to social justice, Sense Publishers, 2016), Un-Settling (Canadian Theatre Review, 2016) , and an excerpt of Cycle of a Sari (Refractions: Solo, Playwright Canada Press, 2014), alongside her unpublished Yoga Cannibal (2008). Some favourite artist residencies include Buddies in Bad Times (Toronto), Canadian Stage, Cahoots Theatre (Toronto), Balacoa (Goa, India), and Pattio Taller (Puerto Rico) .
nisha holds a specialized BA honours in Theatre Creation + Performance, minor in International Development from York University (Toronto), is a Registered Naturotherapy Practitioner graduating from the Centre of Ayurveda and Indian Systems of Healing (Toronto), and is a Certified Intimacy Coordinator through Centaury Co. (Los Angeles).
